Oregon Part III: On the Homestead

The absolute best part about our visits to Oregon is just hanging out at Grammy and Papa's house. The kids love doing the same things year after year...popping poppers on the driveway, climbing the little tree in the front yard, picking vegetables from the garden, collecting eggs, chasing and catching chickens, and playing with Bode. Other things this year were new...riding a bike with no training wheels, swinging on the rope swing, and having a family kickball game.
Get ready for a ton of pictures of what we were up to on the farm.
Erik began to teach Avery how to ride a two-wheeler

She's doing it! Avery has yet to practice again, but I think she'll pick it right up.
The baby llama (on the right) from last year is all grown up.

I like getting a picture of the kids with Bode on the porch every year.

This was the best we could do.

This was the first time that Avery could swing by herself. It quickly became one of her favorite things to do this summer.
playing with Bode - Bode is getting ready to grab that wood under his chin and run.
we LOVE Bode

The chase is on. Avery can catch a chicken like no other 5 year old that I know.
The girls had a sleepover with Grammy in her tent.

slip 'n' slide
Avery could slide all the way to the bottom...
Ella not so much.

The day before Erik had to fly home (he left 10 days before me and the kids), it was actually his birthday. All that he wanted to do on his birthday was have a "fun in my park" day at home. We did a three-legged race (Grammy and Ella came in last, very last)...
kickball...

...and a bingo game where the kids teamed up with an adult to hunt for outdoor goodies.
the kids racing back with their items
I guess Ella wasn't running fast enough

marshmallow throwing game - Ella made it in 1 or 2 times

Bode with his blankie

Grammy with her sidekicks Tina and Betsy (you'll have to ask Grammy about those nicknames).
Grammy wanted pictures of all the kids in the climbing tree.

sweet little Miss K had to be held for her picture
the girls made tye-dye shirts with sharpies markers
The girls were wrestling in Grammy's soft grass at the end of the day.

This Grammy has the biggest smile on her face when she looks at the pictures of her grandchildren playing at the farm. Oh, what wonderful memormies. Thanks Syl for catching them in such a beautiful way! Hugs to All

What a fun, fun time you had! Makes me want to move to Oregon. It's been way too hot here in Tejas.
